+WORSHIP | IN-PERSON or ONLINE | 9:30 AM+
As we are invited today to consider what it means to be managers (rather than owners) of all that we have, it is crucial to recognize that we are bought with a price. “Christ Jesus, himself human, . . . gave himself a ransom for all.” Apart from the generosity of God we have nothing—we are nothing. By God’s gracious favor we have everything we need.

+VOLUNTEERS NEEDED+
Wanted: Worship Leaders
We come together in worship to share our varied gifts and to give thanks for all of God’s blessings upon us. In worship, we need people to speak, to sing, to read the Word, to serve the meal, to pray, to play instruments, to welcome worshippers, to run the audio and video equipment, to prepare the space, to plan, and to participate. We need people to tell us what else we need to be doing!
No matter what your gifts are, no matter your age, no matter whether you are new to church or even just wondering about it…
There is something that you can do to help with worship! All ideas, all gifts, all people are welcome to worship here at Trinity!
If you are interested in getting involved, or if you have any questions, please ask anyone on the welcome team, the tech team, or any of our musicians or worship leaders how you can be part of it all.
+COMMUNITY NEWS+
Special Congregational Meeting on Organ Repairs | September 18 | 10:45 am
The sole purpose of the meeting will be to decide on a recommended contract to make major organ repairs. No other business will be transacted at this meeting. The special meeting will be held in person at the church following regular Sunday worship and members can fully participate electronically via Zoom link as well, as permitted by our Constitution. As always, your participation is important to attaining a quorum. You will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposed repairs and ask questions at the meeting.
After the congregational meeting closes, there will be an opportunity to participate in an in-person listening group as the next step in our visioning process for Trinity. The listening group session will immediately follow the congregational meeting. See below for more info!
Trinity Listening Groups
Trinity’s visioning and coaching process is under way! We had a phenomenal 80% of regular worshippers complete the survey, followed by a strong turnout on August 28 to hear church coach Michelle Snyder present the survey findings and interpretation. The survey data gave us a mirror and some benchmarks about the state of the congregation, what matters to us, and our aspirations. Now keeping this process rolling, Trinity will offer two listening group sessions for more personal engagement on what Trinity brings to us and what we want to bring to Trinity. Coach Michelle is guiding us and members of the Trinity visioning team will facilitate. We would love to see and hear from you. We are offering two options: September 18th following the special congregational meeting or virtually on September 21 at 7pm.
THIS IS YOUR YEAR !!
Learn how to ring handbells and join in with our fun relational group. FREE ringing instructions will be given at a date and time convenient to all participants. If you aren’t certain you have time to be a regular member of the handbell choir, learn to ring and be one of our substitutes. We need you! Contact Marilyn C for details or questions.
PRAISE THE LORD WITH A SONG!
Trinity Singers are back together again! We’re looking forward to a year of musical fellowship with old and new friends. Our rehearsals are at 7:30pm on Thursdays in the choir room, and we plan to sing new hymns from All Creation Sings for the next several weeks. If you want to join in with the group, now is a low-key time to give it a try! We expect to need some folks to help accompany us on percussion and other instruments from time to time, and we welcome all ages and abilities. Contact Mary B for more information.
NEW HYMNAL SUPPLEMENTS
We have ordered copies of the new hymnal supplement, All Creation Sings (the purple book), to have available to everyone in the pews. All Creation Sings was published by Augsburg Fortress in 2020, after a years long process of brainstorming about Lutheran worship. A lot of new music and ideas had arisen since publication of Evangelical Lutheran Worship (the cranberry book). There was a churchwide call in 2019 for suggestions for hymns, service music, and worship material. The church body asked for more resources concerning four topics: creation care, lament in times of crisis, healing, and justice and peace.
We will be using Communion Setting #12 from All Creation Sings until the Advent season. Also, the choir anthems for the next two months will be chosen from new hymns. Eventually, these hymns will be added to the weekly selections sung on Sunday mornings. For more information about All Creation Sings, please check out this article on the Living Lutheran website, https://www.livinglutheran.org/2020/10/all-creation-sings/

Narcan Training
As many of us know, the abuse of opioids has reached a crisis stage and many are dying due to overdose. Knowing how to administer naloxone/narcan can save a life. We are hosting a free, in-person training to help equip you, should you ever find yourself in a position needing to help. During this training, you will learn how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone/narcan. This important training takes place on Saturday, September 17 at 10:30 AM at Trinity. The training will last about an hour. RSVP is required to attend. Please use this link to sign up or see Pastor Christine with questions.
Trinity T-Shirts
We still have a few of the t-shirts we designed and ordered last year. If you didn’t order one but would like one, they are $9 and are currently available in these colors…gold (1), iris blue (1), and Carolina blue (4). All are adult large. It’s first come first served. Send an email with the color (s) you want to valerie@vmwishes.com.
Coffee Hour Hosts Needed!
Nothing elaborate is needed…we need folks to make/put out the coffee, and provide light snacks. On Sundays before our monthly food drive we will have “Hunger Sunday” as a simple reminder of food insecurity in the world. Hunger Sunday coffee hour will be limited to coffee, juice and water – no snacks. Hosting involves simple set up and tidying up afterwards. To select a Sunday that is convenient for you, a Sign Up Genius has been set up for future Sundays; please use this link to sign up https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050e4caba82f4-coffee If you have questions or need help signing up, reach out to Margaret F at gmfitzwm85@gmail.com or Chelsea Y at chelsea.kiehl@valpo.edu
To Accommodate Those who Wish to Donate to our AV Efforts, we have recently established a livestream/technology special fund. This fund will be used to purchase additional microphones, cameras, and AV equipment that may be needed to support our efforts to improve sound quality (both online and in-person) and our online worship experience. Any donations should be notated “Livestream Technology Special Fund” in the memo

The Social Ministry Team shared that starting in July our monthly food drive collection will be given to Bethesda Help (bethesdahelp.org). A thank you note from Bethesda Help following our first drop off included “ I got a bit emotional after seeing all of the food – so nicely organized – it came at a perfect time.” They also noted that we donated 415 pounds of food; those cans really add up! Thanks to all for their ongoing support of the food drives – the need in the community continues to grow. Trinity’s food drives will continue the third Saturday of the month from 9-12. The list of food donation requests is on Trinity’s website. If you have any questions please contact Margaret F at gmfitzwm85@gmail.com
Afghan Refugees (LSS): Lutheran Social Services (LSS) is reaching out with immediate needs due to the influx of Afghan refugees arriving in this area. They are in need of drivers, storage space, rooms on a temporary basis, and housing settlement. Contact: https://bit.ly/3z6u2Xj
