+WORSHIP | IN-PERSON or ONLINE | 9:30 AM+
Jeremiah’s promise of the execution of “justice and righteousness in the land” finds ironic fulfillment in the execution of Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. It appears utterly contradictory that a king should be crucified with a criminal. This victory appears for all the world as humiliating defeat. Yet through the gate of death Jesus opens the door to paradise.

Welcome to Our Guest Preacher
The Rev. Cynthia O. Baskin, who usually goes by “Cindy,” came to the Episcopal Diocese of Washington in 1999 to serve as the rector of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Potomac, Maryland. Upon retiring from that ministry after 16 years, she began interim work for the MetroDC Synod of the ELCA (Lutheran church). She has also served as a supply priest/pastor in both Episcopal and Lutheran congregations. She and her husband live in North Potomac and enjoy traveling now that COVID restrictions have loosened.
Welcome to Our Guest Musician!
This morning we welcome John Widmann to our worship service. Mr. Widmann is the City Carillonneur for the City of Frederick, Maryland, where he plays recitals every Sunday from 12:30 to 13:00, year round, on the Joseph Dill Baker Carillon in Baker Park. He has now held that position for thirty years. He is recently retired from Frederick County Public Schools as a General/Vocal Music teacher. He is also a freelance organist and conductor.
Mr. Widmann became a Carillonneur member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America in 1996, and is a past member of the National Board of that organization. In 2022, he received his Diploma “Met Onderscheding” (cum laude) from the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium. He maintains an active concert schedule, and has played frequently in the US, along with recitals in Ireland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, England, Canada, and the Netherlands Antilles. Mr. Widmann lives in Frederick with his wife and sometimes their two grown children. We so happy to have you with us today, and we look forward to seeing you again for a few weeks in December!
Please place your order no later than December 15. You may place the information in the offering plate, or contact the office (email@example.com) indicating your order specifications.

Please be mindful of the roadwork occurring on Old Georgetown Road in the next few months. It is suggested to leave a little earlier than usual to make up for any inconvenience.
A children’s library is coming SOON! Pastor Christine left some of her children’s books behind and another pastor wanted to thin out his library, so we have a number of gifted books to share and enjoy. Watch for a special cart to appear with books for our children to borrow. There will be seasonal books, as well as year round options, which will span pre-K to 5th grade. You may read the books during church, coffee hour, or take a book home. There will be a sign-out sheet for you to use.
A big thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s coat drive!
We had a wide range of items donated with 31 coats, jackets, and a cape for adults and 4 coats, 2 jackets and 3 pairs of snow pants for children. There were many stocking caps, gloves and mittens, and scarves. In addition, we received sweaters, sport pants, pjs, pants sets and other items. Most items went to La Sagrada Familia with a few items going to A Wider Circle. Good job sharing the warmth!
Your 2023 Pledge Packet is available in the Social Hall for you to pick up and return to the Financial Secretary at your convenience. The Pledge Packets will remain in the social hall through Sunday, November 20th, after which they will be mailed to you. Thank you for your continued support!
Coffee Hour Hosts Needed!
Nothing elaborate is needed…we need folks to make/put out the coffee, and provide light snacks. On Sundays before our monthly food drive we will have “Hunger Sunday” as a simple reminder of food insecurity in the world. Hunger Sunday coffee hour will be limited to coffee, juice and water – no snacks. Hosting involves simple set up and tidying up afterwards. To select a Sunday that is convenient for you, a Sign Up Genius has been set up for future Sundays; please use this link to sign up https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050e4caba82f4-coffee If you have questions or need help signing up, reach out to Margaret F at firstname.lastname@example.org or Chelsea Y at email@example.com
To Accommodate Those who Wish to Donate to our AV Efforts, we have established a livestream/technology special fund. This fund will be used to purchase additional microphones, cameras, and AV equipment that may be needed to support our efforts to improve sound quality (both online and in-person) and our online worship experience. Any donations should be notated “Livestream Technology Special Fund” in the memo
