+WORSHIP | IN-PERSON or ONLINE | 9:30 AM+
The feast of Epiphany (“manifestation”) concludes the Christmas season with a celebration of God’s glory revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. In Isaiah and Ephesians, that glory is proclaimed for all nations and people. Like the light of the star that guided the magi to Jesus, the light of Christ reveals who we are: children of God who are claimed and washed in the waters of baptism. We are sent out to be beacons of the light of Christ, sharing the good news of God’s love to all peoplethe Jordan, Jesus is revealed as the beloved Son of God. Through this great epiphany, Jesus fulfills all righteousness and becomes the servant of God who will bring forth justice and be a light to the nations. In the waters of baptism we too are washed by the Word, anointed by the Spirit, and named God’s beloved children. Our baptismal mission is to proclaim good news to all who are oppressed or in need of God’s healing.

Community of St Dysmas: Our Siblings in Christ
Recently Pastor Susan Beck led an Adult Forum session sharing information about her ministry. She serves as the pastor of the Community of St. Dysmas, the Lutheran churches within the walls of the Maryland state prison system. These are vibrant, faith-filled congregations, currently in Jessup, Hagerstown, and Sykesville. God’s purpose for the Community of St. Dysmas is to share the transforming power of Christ’s love with persons incarcerated in the Maryland Department of Corrections and to support them upon their release. Pastor Beck finds joy in this mission. We can find joy in offering prayers and support to our siblings in Christ. We can offer support to our brothers and sisters in Christ by writing letters to them. There are specific guidelines that must be followed. You can find the guidelines listed in the Community of St. Dysmas summer newsletter, p.3, at www.stdysmasmd.org/images/Newsletter_0822.pdf.
We will also have copies of the guidelines available at church. In addition, Trinity will purchase 24 copies of Hear My Voice: A Prison Prayer Book for the Community. This is a need highlighted by Pastor Beck. Through our benevolences we can provide some monetary support to the Baltimore Area Aftercare Program, a partner with the St. Dysmas Community. For more information please contact Leslie S., Margaret F., or any member of the Social Ministry Team.
Children’s Library
A children’s library is now available! Pastor Christine left some of her children’s books behind and another pastor wanted to thin out his library, so we have a number of gifted books to share and enjoy. Look for the blue cart in the Social Hall, with books for our children to borrow. There will be seasonal books, as well as year round options, which will span pre-K to 5th grade. You may read the books during church, coffee hour, or take a book home. There will be a sign-out sheet for you to use.
Coffee Hour Reminder
As a reminder, a Sign Up Genius is set up for sign up through January. If you have questions or need help signing up, please reach out to Margaret F at gmfitzwm85@gmail.com or Chelsea Y at Chelsea.kiehl@valpo.org. See you at coffee hour!
