+WORSHIP | IN-PERSON or ONLINE | 9:30 AM+
At the heart of our Advent preparation stands John the Baptist, who calls us to repent and make a new beginning. As the darkness increases we turn toward the approaching light of Christ. For Christians he is the root of Jesse, the righteous judge who welcomes all, especially the poor and meek of the earth. We wait with hope for that day when the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and there will be no more hurt or destruction. From the Lord’s table we are sent in the spirit of John the Baptist to proclaim that in Christ the kingdom of God has come near.

Welcome to Our Guest Preacher
We are glad to welcome Pastor Susan Beck to Trinity this Sunday! From Susan: I am glad to be back at Trinity this Sunday! I serve as the pastor of the Community of St. Dysmas, the Lutheran churches within the walls of the Maryland state prison system. We are vibrant, faith-filled congregations, currently in Jessup, Hagerstown, Sykesville and are in the process of forming new congregations in other prisons. I never expected that ministry would take me “behind bars,” but I’m finding that’s exactly where the gospel is—the message of God’s grace given freely in Jesus transforms the lives of our incarcerated siblings in Christ. That’s a joy! Before accepting the call to be CSD pastor, I served two churches in Thurmont and Glenwood. I am active in ecumenical and interfaith work, and serve on the board of Soul to Soul, in interfaith organization that seeks to promote understanding between faiths. I live in Woodbine, MD. with my husband Bill. We have 3 grown children and six grandchildren, all of whom are blessedly local.
Pastor Susan Beck will also be leading Adult Forum on Sunday. She will be discussing the ministry of St. Dysmas. Please join us in room 10 after worship or on Zoom.

You may read the books during church, coffee hour, or take a book home. There will be a sign-out sheet for you to use.
