+WORSHIP | IN-PERSON or ONLINE | 9:30 AM+
In spite of all we have heard and all we have seen, it is often hard to believe. Because it is hard to believe, we will invest ourselves in the Easter mystery for fifty days (a week of weeks). Because it is hard to believe, John the evangelist will provide sign after sign celebrating Jesus’ victory over death. Because it is hard to believe, the risen Jesus will return to us again and again in the mystery of holy communion, inviting us to touch and taste his presence, and offering us his peace.

We continue to worship in a hybrid fashion. Please worship in the manner which is best for your household. Although we no longer require advance signup for in-person worship, please check in with a greeter as you arrive (for contact tracing purposes if needed). If a change needs to be made to this plan, we will notify you via email.
+VOLUNTEERS NEEDED+
In order to help our worship services run smoothly, we need your help. There are a variety of ways you can be of service including: online greeter, cantor, special music offering, welcome team, usher, lector, technology team, assisting minister, and altar guild. We are in need of more people to help out. Please contact the office (office@trinityelca.org)
Congregational Leadership Opportunities
The 2022 Nominating Committee is seeking suggestions for candidates for Council, Mission Endowment, the 2023 Nominating Committee, and delegates to the Synod assembly in June. These functions are all important ministries within Trinity. If you have questions, are interested in serving, or want to suggest someone to serve, please share your thoughts with one of us: Jerry B, Robyn K-V, Sarah M, Fred S, and Susan S.
Here is a brief description of each responsibility:
Congregational Council. Oversees the life and activities of this congregation, and in particular its worship life, to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Chapter 12 of Trinity’s Constitution enumerates the Council’s duties. Council terms are three years and members can serve two consecutive three-year terms. Council meets together at least once a month and in periodic planning retreats.
Mission Endowment. Oversees the Mission Endowment Fund which was created in 1996 for members and friends to give gifts and memorials to the mission outreach of the church. The endowment makes awards to mission initiatives that support the Christian faith, support the community, and support special initiatives of our congregation. Typically, the Committee meets once a quarter. Member terms are three years.
Nominating Committee. Annually prepares a slate of leadership candidates for Congregational consideration and election. Members serve for a term of one year. Members of the Nominating Committee are not eligible for consecutive reelection. (See Trinity Constitution, Chapter 13)
Synod Assembly. The 2022 Synod Assembly which will be held in-person, June 10-11, 2022 at the College Park Marriott for a time to explore what it means to be Rooted in Jesus and to what we are being called to as congregations of the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod. The assembly will begin with attendee check-in and opening worship on Friday, June 10 and will end on Saturday, June 11 by 6:00pm.

Coffee Hour is Back! It’s been 2 long years without coffee hour. With all the changes; one thing hasn’t changed – the need for coffee hour hosts. Please consider selecting a Sunday (or a few) and volunteer to host. Nothing elaborate is needed… light snacks; if baking isn’t your “thing”, store bought is perfect. On Sundays before our monthly food drive we will have “Hunger Sunday” as a simple reminder of food insecurity in the world. Hunger Sunday coffee hour will be limited to coffee, juice and water – no snacks. Hosting involves simple set up and tidying up afterwards. If this is your first occasion there are plenty of veterans to help show you the ropes (complete written instructions are stashed in the cabinet too). If you prefer to share the responsibility, we can help find you a partner. To select a Sunday that is convenient for you, a Sign Up Genius has been set up for dates in April and May; please use this link to sign up https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050e4caba82f4-coffee If you have questions or need help signing up, please reach out to Margaret F at gmfitzwm85@gmail.com or Chelsea Y at chelsea.kiehl@valpo.edu
See you at coffee hour!

Social Ministry Team Partner of the Month is Mar-Lu-Ridge. ““Rooted in Christ, we welcome all to encounter God’s love through sacred hospitality, deepening relationships, and care for creation.” Mar-Lu-Ridge’s mission statement is lived as they “strive to create space for community, service and sanctuary.” On April 26th, Mountain Service Day will provide a day to share fellowship, study, and service as they assemble Health Kits for Lutheran World Relief. This will be held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Lunch included in the $25 fee. Register with mlr@mar-lu-ridge.org.

Disposable Diaper Drive during the month of May to celebrate Mothers!
During May, the Social Ministry Team will be collecting disposable diapers for the Greater DC Diaper Bank (GDCDB). Our goal is to collect 3,500 diapers (about the # of diapers a newborn uses in a year). All size diapers are welcome, but there is always a great need for larger sizes (4-5). Opened packages of diapers are accepted as long as the size is marked.
Drop off diapers any Sunday in May in the Social Hall or during our monthly food drive on Saturday, May 21. If you do not have time to shop, feel free to make an offering noting that the donation is for the “diaper drive”. For more information on GDBDB check out greaterdcdiaperbank.org
